a DAO, or decentralized autonomous organization, is a new type of organization on the rise.

think of internet-based company, but without a central leader, where decisions are made collectively by token holders through voting. solution runs on blockchain technology, which ensures transparency and security. all actions and votes are recorded publicly. system can be used for a variety of purposes, from funding projects to managing communities and it offers potential benefits like increased efficiency, lower costs, and more democratic decision-making. still is a new concept, with ongoing development and some challenges to address, that is something to keep in mind.

simplifying life and integrating with nature

  • minimalism and decluttering: encourage members to adopt minimalist lifestyles and reduce their consumption of material goods.

  • nature-based solutions: promote solutions that leverage the power of nature to address environmental challenges, such as reforestation, regenerative agriculture, and ecosystem restoration.

  • connection to nature: encourage members to spend more time in nature, whether it's through outdoor activities, gardening, or simply appreciating the natural world around them.

building a "planetarian" lifestyle

  • conscious consumerism: educate members about the impact of their consumption choices and encourage them to support sustainable businesses and products.

  • circular economy: promote the principles of a circular economy, where resources are reused and recycled to minimize waste.

  • local and seasonal food: encourage the consumption of locally sourced and seasonal food to reduce the environmental impact of food production and transportation.


every coin has two sides

the idea that transaction costs promote sustainability is based on the principle of economic incentives. when users have to pay for actions, they are more likely to consider the value and necessity of those actions, potentially leading to a reduction in wasteful activities. this could contribute to a more sustainable use of online resources.  

the argument is particularly relevant in the context of web3, where blockchain transactions often involve fees. these fees can discourage spam, unnecessary interactions, and resource-intensive activities, promoting a more efficient and sustainable use of the blockchain network.  

however, it's important to acknowledge that transaction fees can also create barriers to entry for users with limited resources. additionally, not all actions on the web3 network are directly related to resource consumption, so the impact on sustainability might not be uniform across all activities. this leads to conclusion that at least fundamental rights and responsibilities must be available without any costs to support the activism in web3.

the suggested idea is that the elements of organizational learning and change described by Senge such as systems thinking, personal mastery, mental models, shared vision, and team learning can best be realized and lead to sustainable change when they acknowledge and support people's fundamental needs at the various levels of Maslow's hierarchy. to understand our behaviour in the face of transformations unlike never before seen, it is beneficial to do some cross checking about thema.
